Letter from David Newton, Director
December 24, 2009
I'm sorry to be so late with this save the date message but Sugarbush has a lot of very cool activities planned for March and we had a few of our own conflicts. The good news is, we somehow ended up with our first choice for a date and that is the weekend of March 5th and 6th. The schedule will be similar to last year with a cocktail party Friday night, the race at 11:00 Saturday morning, lunch in the Mushroom, and dinner and dancing in the Gate House Lodge Saturday night.
As this will be our 11th Peter's FUNd Racer, we may do things a little differently this year but who knows? It's early and our Board likes to work under pressure. Keep an eye on the website (petersfundracer.com) for possible schedule and event changes, but the dates are cast in stone.
We gave a little thought to wrapping up the event after ten highly successful years. Then we thought about all the good we have done with your contributions, and all the kids' papers that we have read on how fun the event is and how it has taught them to give to those less fortunate. I mean, come on! We re going to pull the plug on an event where Johnny shovels the sidewalk so he can donate the proceeds to our event? I think not.
My cousin Jim and his daughter, Julie, ride in the Pan Mass Challenge. Due to our present economic conditions, Jim was feeling a little apprehensive about asking people to support their efforts last summer so he asked Julie if they should take a year off. She said, I'm all for it Dad because I'm sure cancer is taking the year off, too. Don't you just love that? Needless to say, they rode.
Soooo we're on and looking forward to it. There are lots of new glades to ski this year at Sugarbush and some new (inexpensive) lodging options. Please let me know if I can help with any of your arrangements.
I hope your holidays are filled with joy and great health.
