Silent Auction Items for the 2003 Event

The 2003 auction was a great success, raising over $40,000!

1. A one week stay in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo at Palmas Del Mar in Puerto Rico. Two great golf courses, 14 restaurants and a sprawling tennis complex. A fantastic place, once again donated by our friend Dan Lacoff. Check out the view from the neighboring unit at $2400.
2A. A threesome at one of the country's best, The Country Club, with your host and our good friend, Jim Hitchings. Winning bid includes 18 holes, caddies and 19th hole activities. Good through the Fall of 2003. Expensive and well worth it. $2700.
2B. Same great venue, different gracious host. Enjoy all of the above at TCC with our very generous supporter, Bill Lynch. $2700.
3. 19 holes for a threesome with Steve Wilchins at the Kernwood CC in Salem, MA. Available Monday - Friday. $450.
4. A day sail with lunch for 4 aboard "The Patina," a Hinckley Bermuda 40'.  Sailing from Gloucester with Captain Gould and his first mate, Errin.  Good for summer of '03, excluding August. $1000.
5. Pick your poison. Choose between Walpole CC and The Orchards Golf Club and spend the day golfing with the man, the myth, the legend, Dave Volpe. Play close to Boston or head west and play a Donald Ross gem which will be the site of the '04 US Women's Open. Volp can play a little golf and has a great apres golf game—his 19th antics shouldn't be missed.
6. Take a friend and see the "I" dotted during half-time of the Ohio St. vs. Purdue football game in Columbus Ohio. The defending national champ Buckeyes take on the Boilermakers Nov 18th and it doesn't get any better or bigger than this in the world of college football. 7. Golf for 3 at Wollaston Golf Club. If you haven't played 19 holes with Lenny Pasciucco you haven't played golf. Don't miss out on what will surely be a great afternoon. $750.
8. Spend the afternoon with Bob Harkins while taking in the hottest new golf course in town, Blackrock Country Club in Hingham. This Brian Silva designed championship course is sure to put you to the test, and if it doesn't, Bobby surely will with the 19th hole festivities. $600.

10. A) "Wildcat" An original watercolor from our good friend Joanne Rogers. This framed 14x16 painting is a view of Tuckermans Ravine from Wildcat mountain (see left). $375.
10. B) "Waiting for snow" Another beautiful 16x20 framed watercolor from Joanne Rogers. This one is a view of Black Mountain in the fall and is alive with color (see left). $250.
11. Enjoy a gorgeous 5 bedroom 4 bath Nantucket house filled with custom details and furnishings. Located two miles west of town, and directly across the street from conservation land and one of the island's nicest bike paths, this house boasts a gourmet kitchen and a large and beautifully landscaped yard with several perennial gardens. There is also a pool and separate spa behind the house. Choose a long weekend in May, June, September or October -- specific time to be mutually agreed upon with the owner but must be used by October 31, 2003. 12. Golf with the Malcolms. You and a friend will join Malcolm Hodge and Malcolm Hirsh for a round of golf at Brae Burn Country Club, the site of a few US OPENs and Ryder Cups. A beautiful golf course 10 mins from downtown Boston. And if by the end of 18 holes you haven't had enough of the Malcolms, drinks and dinner are included as well!  If you have a better bid for a threesome, one of the Malcolms will bow out. $600.
13. Work out the winter time blues on a pair of brand new Tubbs snowshoes, Discovery series, size 27, which should fit someone in the 120-200 pound range. Donated by John Newton Jr. $275.
14. Stay at a wonderful Rockresort in Beaver Creek, CO. Enjoy three nights at The Pines Lodge in the heart of Beaver Creek. Includes a round of golf for two on the Red Sky Golf Course should you decide to go in the summer. Expires 09/01/04 $1150.
15. Enjoy 2 nights at the brand new Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando. Our friend Pat White, veteran lobsterman and former president of the Maine Lobsterman's Association, will personally pluck a dozen, hand-selected 1 1/2 pound crustaceans (or if you prefer, 10 2lbers) from the clear, clean waters of the Gulf of Maine and ship them directly to you on ice for your summer party. They'll arrive at your door alive and kickin' and just hours from the depths of their former home in the Atlantic. Minimum two week advance notice. Not valid after September 15, 2003. $850.

18. Ballet anyone? A) 2 tickets to Boston Ballet's performance of Romeo and Juliet, Sat. May 10th at 8:00. Tickets are in the artistic director's row, best seats in the house. Donated by David Benedict.

19. Les Paul Guitar (knockoff, see left)—Bid high to be the new master of this 1970's sunburst Les Paul Standard model guitar. The most popular non-Fender guitar of all time! During the 70's America got into defending its patent system, in so doing, the lawsuit centered on Japanese and Korean imported guitars that were dead-on copies of USA made Gibson Guitars. The USA nixed imported cars until they stopped copying/importing our patented guitars. This is one of those guitars made in Asia, it is as close to the real thing as you can get. It's a PERFECT copy of the real Les Paul Standard sunburst, made by GTX! Comes with 70's vintage hard shell case. A collectable player! Value is about $700. Donated by Fred Markham. $820.

21. A one week stay in a fabulous 2br/2ba condo at The Coral Sands in Hilton Head. Includes tennis and golf for 4 people everyday (carts NOT included and are required, PM tee times ONLY) on the Port Royal Plantation course. The condo is conveniently located 300 yards from the beach and within easy walking distance of several shops and restaurants. Valid Sept and Oct '03 only. $2050.
22. Four nights lodging in a 2 bedroom condo at Deer Valley Resort. Includes 4 days of skiing (no boarding) for 4! Not valid over holiday periods or during the Sundance Film Festival, normally in January. Good through 4/8/04. $1900.

24. The Hinckley Company has most generously donated an outing on one of their 36' Picnic Boats. For anyone not familiar with this vessel you ought to be as its probably the prettiest boat on the water today. Check it out. Bring a picnic and enjoy a few hours on the waters around Newport with friends for what is sure to be a fun filled afternoon. Valid during the month of June 2003 only. $1200.
25. Just what every Christmas tree or basement needs: A Lionel Train Set. $325.
26. Get hip and "scoot" around the city or the suburbs on your own mini scooter. Manufactured by Norsk these are identical to Razors. Tom Tesauro has kindly donated two of these so the two highest bidders will be taking them home. $150.
27. Two great Bruins tickets in the 2nd row of the balcony for any one of the following games: 3/13 NJ 7, 3/15 Fla Noon, 3/24 Toronto 7, 3/31 Tampa Bay 7, 4/5 Buffalo 1. $150.

32. Kathie Stevens donates another great day for those people who appreciate the best of golf. This is a chance to play one of the finest courses on Cape Cod, Eastward Ho in Chatham. Kathie is a "6" so bring your best game. $700.
33. You and up to 2 friends will enjoy a one hour flight over Penobscot Bay from Camden Maine to Bar Harbor and back. This part of the coast is as pretty as it gets anywhere and your pilot, Ryan Fendler, has over 40 years of flying experience and will give you a wonderful guided tour. Valid June thru October '03 only on a date to be mutually agreed upon with the pilot. $450.
34. Yankees! Guaranteed to still be a pennant race on Wed. night, May 21st. 4 good seats right near canvas alley, about a dozen rows off the field halfway between the right fielder and first base. Watch the Giambi brothers battle and bring your glove as the foul balls come fast. Donated by David and Lynn. $1500.
35. A threesome at the Plainfield CC in Edison NJ with Rick Bertoni. A beautiful golf course that shouldn't be missed. $750.
36. Beer for a Year--just what some of us (don't) need. 12
cases of Samuel Adams plus a pewter beer mug signed by Jim Koch, brewer and founder of Sam Adams. The beer can be picked up by the winner at the brewery in JP and will be 12 cases of the freshest brews they have on hand. You can't go wrong on this one. Compliments of Jim Koch and Sally Jackson.
37. The beginning of a new era (again). Two box seats to opening day at Fenway Friday April 11th against the Orioles at 2:05. These are on the third base side looking down the line from home to first in section 24, box 141 row GG 1&2. With thanks again to the Oakes-Horizon company.
